Become an active reader

Does it take you a long time to read something through?

Do you get to the end and find you don’t understand what it was all about?

Do you underline everything rather than focusing on the key points?

If so, then it’s time to sharpen up your reading skills. Fundamentals of Reading Comprehension is a free online workshop aimed at students preparing for English proficiency exams like IELTS, TOEFL and PTE, or those wanting to improve their academic performance.

The goal is to help you become an active reader – someone who can easily comprehend or extract meaning from a text. By the end of the workshop you will understand how to distil key information, analyse concepts and engage with a text in a meaningful way.

You will learn

  1. The ‘High Five’ reading strategies
  2. Skimming and scanning techniques
  3. Deducting the meaning of words from the context

Delivered online this workshop is 1 hour in length.
