Trinity English Examinations

Trinity College London has been offering English Language examinations since 1938. This exam tests assess all four skills – reading, writing, listening and speaking. This exams is required for applications to UKVI for visas, leave to Remain and British Citizenship. Trinity offers the following English Language Tests:

Graded Examinations in Spoken English (GESE)

The Graded Examinations in Spoken English (GESE) test candidates' ability in listening and speaking. There are four Stages with three Grades at each Stage:

  • Grades 1-3 (Initial stage)
  • Grades 4-6 (Elementary stage)
  • Grades 7-9 (Intermediate stage)
  • Grades 10-12 (Advanced stage)

Integrated Skills in English (ISE)

Integrated Skills in English examinations (ISE) assess all four language skills - Speaking, Writing, Listening and Reading – interacting with each other as they do in the real world. There are five ISE levels – ISE 0, ISE I, ISE II, ISE III, ISE IV. ISE is accepted by academic institutions in the UK as evidence of English language proficiency for International students.

Spoken English for Work (SEW)

The Spoken English for Work (SEW) examination is a work-related Speaking and Listening examination based on the candidate's chosen sector and available at four levels corresponding to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). The exams are designed for anyone aged 16 and above who is already working or is preparing to enter the world of work.

Rosemounts offer extensive preparation courses for the above mentioned and also assists students in registering for the exam.

  • I am a professor of anthropology in Brazil. I did a 2 month Hindi Course at Rose Mount. Initially, it was a bit difficult but after the first week I settled in the class and made good progress. I believe that 2 month was a short time, I should have opted for a longer course.
