Self-Awareness

Being self-aware simply means that you know yourself. It is nothing but conscious knowledge about your beliefs, thoughts, reactions or even character without being judgmental. It’s a state of being true to yourself or knowing who you really are, without worrying about being right or wrong.

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that self-awareness is the first step towards getting what you want. And, without it, you may end up running in circles, eventually losing all sense of direction. On the other hand, if you are self-aware, your instincts will guide you and your open-mindedness about your personality will compliment it. You will be able to navigate the course of your life on your own terms. It will be the beginning of the life that you want. Therefore, you can shape your future by being a more self-aware version of yourself.

The good news is it doesn’t take much to be self-aware. All you need is the will and a few moments a day to walk the path of self-realization.

Introspection
Though scarcity of time is still a universal fact, sparing as little as 10 minutes a day in your own company can help you rediscover yourself.

Pen down your thoughts
Noting down your thoughts, emotions, achievements and even failures in a diary will help you to see yourself with more clarity. Be proud of your accomplishments. Identify what strengths helped you get there.

Identify your goals
Identifying what you want, and what strengths you need to have to achieve it will stop that inner conflict that doesn’t allow you to move ahead or decide your next course of action. You can also note the areas of development and what resources you might need to cross all the hurdles and be successful.

Allow constructive criticism
Let your friends and family members give you feedback and help you to better yourself. This will not only help you eliminate your gray areas, but also enable you convert the dream of success into reality.

Love yourself
Several studies have proved that we can be meaner or harsher to ourselves than we generally are to anyone else. Therefore, you need to avoid negative self-talk. Don’t blame yourself if things don’t work out as planned. In fact, take the set back as an opportunity to be a better person.

It is a well-established fact that in the path of personal development we need to have some self-awareness. Therefore, identifying the personal strengths and weaknesses is important to in order to become a stronger and wiser person. So let this cognizance empower you by helping you learn from your mistakes and your core traits enabling you to grow.
