Who this is for

Different starting points. One commitment to careful guidance.

You may be entering the field, adding career guidance to work you already do or strengthening an independent practice. The common requirement is a willingness to learn, practise and remain within professional boundaries.

01

Aspiring career counsellors

You want a serious beginning—helping skills, career-development theory, assessment interpretation, ethics and supervised practice—not a collection of recorded videos.

02

Counsellors and educators

You already work with students or young adults and want a clearer method for turning conversations, evidence and research into useful next steps.

03

Independent practitioners

You want to strengthen an existing practice with better reports, repeatable session structures, responsible data use and continuing professional guidance.

The 120+ hour journey

Learn the work from foundations to professional practice.

The current framework totals 126 live, interactive hours. It combines teaching with case work, written tasks, observed demonstrations and reflective practice. Assessed components carry a 70% pass mark.

  1. 01

    Career development and evidence

Learn the major career-development models and how to distinguish established evidence from promising or still-developing ideas.

  2. 02

    The helping relationship

Practise listening, questioning, reflection, rapport and the structure of effective individual and group conversations.

  3. 03

    Assessment and interpretation

Learn to read Values, Interests, Personality and Skills together—and explain the evidence in language a student or adult can use.

  4. 04

    Labour markets and work

Use credible occupational and labour-market information, with particular attention to the Indian education and employment context.

  5. 05

    Employability and transitions

Support job-search planning, applications, employability skills and practical transitions for older students and working adults.

  6. 06

    Working with diverse people

Adapt guidance to age, ability, gender, culture, economic circumstances and the different contexts people bring into the room.

  7. 07

    Ethics, law and honest practice

Understand professional boundaries, responsible claims, consent, data care and when another qualified professional is needed.

  8. 08

    Professional practice

Design programmes and sessions, use technology carefully, communicate your work and develop a reflective professional practice.

Delivery is live—in person and through synchronous online sessions—so that skills can be observed, discussed and practised.

From data to a useful conversation

Assessments inform. The counsellor interprets.

The training is built around a simple discipline: never allow one score to become a verdict. Rosemounts counsellors learn to read four different questions together, test the interpretation against the person’s real context and turn it into a sensible next step.

Values

What matters deeply enough to shape a decision.

Interests

What repeatedly draws the person’s attention and energy.

Personality

How the person tends to think, relate and work.

Skills

What can be strengthened through practice and experience.

Rosemounts Edge™

Prepare the session before the student enters the room.

The Career Architect Workspace within Rosemounts Edge brings assessment patterns, the student’s report, session structure, worksheets, observations and follow-up into one professional view.

  1. 01

    See the whole person

Bring the four assessment lenses and the complete report into one view.

  2. 02

    Plan the conversation

Prepare the purpose, questions, worksheets and likely areas that need care.

  3. 03

    Record professional judgement

Keep observations, agreed actions and follow-up in the student’s journey.

  4. 04

    Keep the human in charge

The workspace informs the counsellor. It never decides for the person.

Build your own practice

Professional independence begins with a repeatable method.

Rosemounts helps participants think through an independent career-counselling practice: who they can serve, how a person moves through the service, which tools support the work and where the counsellor’s role ends.

01

Define whom you can help

Choose the people and decisions you are equipped to serve instead of trying to counsel everyone from the first day.

02

Create a responsible service pathway

Build a clear flow from first conversation to assessment, interpretation, sessions, action planning and follow-up.

03

Work with evidence and records

Use reports, notes and session structures carefully so that advice does not depend on memory or intuition alone.

04

Know the limits of your role

Career counselling is not mental-health diagnosis or treatment. Learn when to pause, refer or involve another qualified professional.

Certificate and professional standards

Say exactly what the qualification does—and does not—mean.

Participants who meet the attendance requirements and pass the assessed components receive a Rosemounts certificate of completion. The programme assesses practical competence through cases, written work, observed demonstrations and a supervised-practice log.

Professional memberships

Connected to wider career-development practice.

Rosemounts Institute is a member of the Asia Pacific Career Development Association and the International Association for Educational and Vocational Guidance.

These are professional memberships. They are not presented as accreditation or certification of this programme.

Beyond the classroom

Training begins the work. Reflection helps it mature.

01

Case-led learning

Practise on realistic situations before carrying the method into independent work.

02

Professional guidance

Discuss difficult interpretation and session-design questions within the support arrangement agreed with Rosemounts.

03

Tools that keep evolving

Use current Rosemounts reports, practice resources and workspace methods as the practitioner ecosystem develops.

Before you decide

Clear answers to the important questions.

Is this programme only for counsellors working in schools?

No. It is relevant to aspiring counsellors, educators, school and college guidance professionals, and independent practitioners. The cases and practice rhythm are adapted to the people you intend to serve.

Is the programme 120 hours?

The current curriculum framework totals 126 hours, exceeding a 120-hour training threshold. It is delivered live through in-person and synchronous online sessions, with practical work and assessed demonstrations.

What certificate will I receive?

Participants who complete the attendance requirements and pass the assessed components receive a Rosemounts certificate of completion. It is not a clinical-psychology or mental-health qualification.

Is this already a GCDF credential programme?

Not at present. The curriculum is GCDF-aligned and has been prepared in support of Rosemounts’ planned application to become a Registered Credential Training Provider. That approval has not yet been granted, so programme completion does not currently confer the GCDF credential.

Will I learn to use assessments and Rosemounts Edge?

Yes. The training covers responsible interpretation of the Rosemounts assessment framework and session planning through the Career Architect Workspace within Rosemounts Edge. Ongoing access is provided according to the practitioner arrangement agreed with Rosemounts.

Will the programme help me start my own practice?

Yes. It helps you define your audience, structure your services, use evidence responsibly, plan sessions and understand professional boundaries. It does not promise clients, income or business success.

Begin with a conversation

Tell us the kind of counsellor you want to become.

We will discuss your present experience, the people you hope to serve, the training format and whether this is the right next step for you. Programme dates, cohort structure and fees are confirmed in conversation.
