IELTS Reading Exercise 4: Matching Information

Matching information asks where a particular detail appears. Unlike matching headings, the answer may depend on one sentence rather than the paragraph’s main idea.

Three short paragraphs

A. Early bicycle-sharing systems depended on fixed docks. B. Newer systems can use electronic locks, although cities sometimes struggle when bicycles are left in obstructive places. C. Some operators now reward users for returning bicycles to high-demand areas, reducing the need for staff to move them.

Match the information: 1. A problem caused by flexible parking. 2. An incentive that changes user behaviour. 3. A feature of earlier schemes.

Answers

1. B: bicycles can obstruct places when left poorly. 2. C: rewards encourage returns to selected areas. 3. A: fixed docks were a feature of early systems.

The question wording and passage wording differ. Flexible parking becomes bicycles left in obstructive places; incentive becomes reward.
